Five-star wide receiver Eric McFarland III has shortened the list of contenders in his recruitment to three.

Among the potential suitors are a trio of SEC programs in Florida, Georgia and Texas A&M. The Sunshine State resident announced that he will reveal his commitment on June 28 via X, formerly known as Twitter.

Over the last two seasons, McFarland has amassed 65 receptions for 1,169 yards and 19 touchdowns while competing against some of the nation’s top competition at IMG Academy. McFarland would be a prime addition to a Gators skill position class that features four-star wide receiver Elias Pearl, four-star quarterback Davin Davidson, and four-star wide receiver Tramond Collins.

The Gators are looking to stack a second consecutive class of highly-touted wideouts. The 2026 cycle yielded a trio of four-star pass catchers in Davian Groce, Justin Williams, and Marquez Daniel, who are already garnering praise on campus for their athleticism and work ethic. The 2026 and 2027 classes are coming up behind a unit with the opportunity to be the SEC’s best, with Vernell Brown III, Eric Singleton Jr. and Dallas Wilson making up an explosive group on the outside.

The Gators survived a lauded list of schools that included Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, LSU, Miami and Oregon. The blue-chip pass catcher visited Gainesville on June 4 and has reportedly built a strong relationship with receivers coach Marcus Davis and head coach Jon Sumrall.
