Delphi hires Terry Peebles as head football coach

DELPHI — The architect who turned Harrison into a respectable program is coming out of retirement after a one season layoff.

Delphi announced the hiring of Terry Peebles to become the program’s next head football coach.

Peebles led Harrison to two straight IHSAA 5A sectional championships in 2018-19 and left Harrison after 2024 with a record of 75-41.

Harrison was in the midst of a 36-game losing streak when Peebles took the program over in 2014.

Now he takes over Delphi which went 32-29 under previous coach Jacob Mroczkiewicz from 2019-25.

Harrison head coach Terry Peebles talks to quarterback Brian Pennell during a timeout as the Raiders battle Marion Friday, October 12, 2018, at Harrison High School. Harrison came up short against Marion, losing 14-11.

Delphi’s lone sectional title came in 1979, and the program hasn’t won an IHSAA playoff game since 2021.

Peebles will also be tasked with ending Delphi’s six season drought in the yearly Bacon Bowl against rival Carroll who has held the Bacon Bowl Skillet since 2020.

Peebles was a 2-time All-American having graduated from Cathedral in 1991 and was the 1995 Division III National Player of the Year at Hanover College.

Peebles also played in the CFL and played professional football in Italy and Germany. He’s been an offensive coordinator at Benedictine University, Waynesburg College, Hanover College, Carthage College and Bluffton University.
