Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore announced on ESPN's SportsCenter that he is heading back to the NCAA for another season, which is big news.

That is particularly impactful for former Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola, who recently announced his commitment in the transfer portal to Oregon. Raiola was a five-star recruit who was the No. 2 overall quarterback in the Class of 2024.

He was a two-year starter at Nebraska who threw for 4,819 yards as well as 31 touchdowns in the Big Ten.

However, with Moore coming back rather than declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, he will certainly keep his job as a starter for the Ducks. So what does that mean for Raiola?

The short version: Even before Moore's announcement, ESPN's Pete Thamel reported that Raiola is expected to serve as a backup to Moore during the upcoming campaign.

Raiola suffered a season-ending broken fibula in his right leg on November 1, 2025. He will likely return to action next season but he can use the year as the No. 2 quarterback on Oregon's depth chart or as a redshirt season.

Before he became the full-time starter for the Ducks last season, after transferring from UCLA following his freshman season, Moore played a similar role behind current Cleveland Browns quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

Raiola would likely then become the favorite to take over as the starting quarterback for Oregon in 2027 and could have two more years of collegiate eligibility.
