No. 3 Texas A&M (8-0, 5-0 SEC) will put its undefeated record on the line once again, as the Aggies take on No. 22 Missouri (6-2, 2-2 SEC) in Columbia for a massive afternoon showdown with plenty of postseason implications, as the Tigers still have an outside shot to make the SEC Championship Game, and the College Football Playoff.
However, Texas A&M’s elite pass rush, which has racked up 32 sacks, led by senior edge Cashius Howell’s 9.5 sacks, will face Missouri freshman quarterback Matt Zollers. At the same time, it has not been confirmed by ESPN insider Pete Thamel that junior tight end Brett Norfleet will miss Saturday’s game due to a shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined this week.
Through eight games, Norfleet has reeled in 26 receptions for 224 yards and five touchdowns, while averaging 8.6 yards per catch. One of the most reliable targets on the roster, Zollers will more than likely target the team’s leading receiver, Kevin Coleman Jr., much more than anticipated. If Missouri’s rushing attack doesn’t make an early impact, not having Norfleet’s size and coverage mismatch will make life in the pocket frustrating.
Missouri’s offensive line has surrendered 18 sacks this season, and unless starting left tackle Cayden Green shuts down Cashius Howell, Zollers could be in for a long day.
