Michigan transfer cornerback Tevis Metcalf commits to Tennessee

Tennessee has added another defensive back out of the transfer portal, pulling Tevis Metcalf away from Michigan. Tevis will join his older brother TJ in Knoxville, who committed earlier this week.

Younger brother Tevis was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2024, originally committing to Arkansas. At Michigan last season, Metcalf appeared in just three games defensively for the Wolverines, but played in 12 on special teams. The cornerback is originally out of Pinson, Alabama, ranking as the 37th overall prospect in the state back in 2024, according to Rivals.

Metcalf will have three years of eligibility remaining. The 5-10, 198 pound defensive back will likely play a healthy amount of special teams next season, joining a crowded group of young cornerbacks that are looking for defensive playing time.

Clearly, this is a package deal with the Metcalf brothers both transferring to the same school for the second consecutive season. One interesting note β€” they are cousins to Pittsburgh Steelers receiver D.K. Metcalf.

Tennessee continues to pursue defensive backs, defensive linemen, running backs and a quarterback in the transfer portal. With a heavy visit day today, expect more news to quickly follow this weekend.
