Two more players committed to Missouri football before the deadline for new portal entries struck.
Mizzou earned a commitment from transfer freshman Louisville defensive end CJ May on Friday night. Earlier in the day, Tennessee State punter Mark Shenouda announced he was jumping from the FCS to the SEC.
The college football transfer portal officially closed for new entries at 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning. That is only the deadline for new entries. Players can still sign with new schools at essentially any time, meaning Missouri is likely to still be active at acquiring new talent.
May was a four-star prospect in the Class of 2025 out of Highland Home, Alabama. He is listed at 6 foot 4, 225 pounds by Louisville.
He did not play as a true freshman for Louisville. May will have four remaining years of eligibility.
He is the third defensive end that Missouri has picked up out of the portal after Florida State’s Jaden Jones and Houston’s Cavan Tuley, who has been a career-special teams player.
Mizzou is losing both of its starting edge rushers this offseason, as Damon Wilson II is in the portal and Zion Young is a likely top-100 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Missouri also lost reserves Nate Johnson to Auburn and Javion Hilson to Virginia Tech at the position.
Shenouda is the second specialist Missouri has added in this transfer portal cycle, following Florida State kicker/punter Brunno Reus.
He has averaged 41.8 yards per punt over 102 punts in the past two seasons.
In 62 attempts last season, he averaged 42.9 yards per punt and downed 16 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. Twelve of Shenouda’s punts went 50+ yards, and he kicked a career-long 82-yarder in a game against UT Martin. That was the longest punt at either the FBS or the FCS level last year.
Mizzou is losing primary punter Connor Weselman to eligibility this offseason. He averaged 41.8 yards per punt last season, which was last among SEC punters.
Missouri has now signed 24 players out of the transfer portal.
