STILLWATER — Oklahoma State is coming off a high and Murray State is looking to capitalize.

After an upset 39-31 win against No. 6 Oregon Saturday, the Cowboys will host Murray State, an FCS opponent out of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. It's the first time the programs have met on the gridiron.

In a postgame address to his team, OSU coach Eric Morris reminded his players all the people who told them how bad they are after a 24-10 loss to Tulsa will now be singing their praises. His message was to be safe, have a good time celebrating the win Saturday night, but be prepared to flush the emotions and move on.

Let’s take a look at this week’s matchup:

Scouting Murray State

2026 Record: 1-2

Best player: Junior running back Tyrell Campbell. Campbell leads the Racers with 224 yards this season. He split carries with junior Mykel Allen, but Campbell has been the more efficient, explosive back with an average of 7.1 yards per rush and a long rush of 46 yards.

The case for Murray State: OSU has already lost a stinker. As a 13.5-point favorite against Tulsa, the Cowboys weren’t at their best and were fortunate to lose by just 14 points. Pulling off an upset is a tall order. Murray State is 3-43-2 all-time in games against FBS opponents, with the most recent win coming in 1984 against Louisville.

The case for OSU: The Cowboy offensive and defensive line dominated Oregon’s highly touted fronts. OSU sacked Oregon quarterback Dante Moore four times and didn’t allow one. The Cowboys out-rushed the ducks 237- 90 yards. If OSU plays like that in the trenches, Murray State’s offensive and defensive lines won’t be able to disrupt OSU quarterback Drew Mestemaker or plug gaps to stop running back Caleb Hawkins
