Future NFL Draft talent Fernando Mendoza has been on a heater recently both on and off the college football field.
After winning Indiana’s first-ever College Football Playoff national championship this week, the Hoosiers standout stopped by Jimmy Fallon’s ‘The Tonight Show’ to win over more fans.

It’s clear that Mendoza is made for television with his quirky personality, and he had Fallon in tears with laughter while also showcasing his football skills.
The longtime comedian discussed Mendoza’s thoughts on delivering Indiana’s first football title. In typical Mendoza fashion, he gave a perfect response by shouting out his entire team and particularly head coach Curt Cignetti.
“Well we finally got our coach Cignetti to smile so that was the biggest accomplishment,” Fernando Mendoza joked with Fallon.
Indiana’s Elijah Sarratt (13), Fernando Mendoza (15), Pat Coogan (78), Aiden Fisher (4) and Riley Nowakowski (37) pose with the trophy on the podium after the College Football Playoff National Championship college football game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Heisman Trophy winner also had a chance to show off his arm before the 2026 NFL Draft. Fallon came up with a game where he tossed records into the air and Mendoza fired footballs at them.
Many NFL Draft experts, including Mel Kiper Jr., firmly expect the Indiana star to go first overall in April’s draft when the Las Vegas Raiders are on the clock. Mendoza finished off his historic Hoosiers season with over 3,500 yards and 41 touchdown passes for the national champions.
