As one standout SEC transfer wide receiver made it known that he is headed to Missouri football, another reportedly is no longer coming to Columbia.
Auburn transfer wideout Horatio Fields is no longer expected to enroll at Mizzou, according to a report Saturday evening from PowerMizzou and 247Sports. The news came shortly after Ole Miss wide receiver transfer Cayden Lee announced he will follow Rebels quarterback Austin Simmons to Mizzou.
According to the report from PowerMizzou, Fields has not arrived on campus. His name, unlike most of the other players who already have signed with Mizzou, is not in the University of Missouri student database.
It now appears highly unlikely that Fields will be part of MU’s pass-catching room in 2026.
On Jan. 8, Missouri officially announced on social media that Lee had signed with the Tigers. It is likely that he has been released from that agreement, but that is unconfirmed.
The news that Lee, who caught 44 passes on 64 total targets, mostly lining up in the slot, and totaled 632 receiving yards and three touchdown catches in 2025, is signing with Mizzou may have impacted either Fields’ decision or the space on the roster for him.
Fields was a former Wake Forest player who missed most of the 2025 season at Auburn due to injury. The wide receiver previously played for Wake Forest, where he caught 39 passes for 467 yards and four touchdowns in 2024.
He has one year of eligibility remaining, as he originally signed in the Class of 2021. His social media accounts do not show any reference to Missouri.
Fields was one of the first batch of players to commit to Missouri in this transfer portal cycle.
Mizzou has four other wide receiver signings in this portal cycle, most of whom, like Fields, are expected to be outside receivers.
Lee is primarily a slot receiver, and Missouri has also added Caleb Goodie (Cincinnati), Kenric Lanier II (Minnesota) and Naeshaun Montgomery (Florida) in this window.
