TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Well, it’s finally time for LSU football to play a football game again.

After a period that felt like an entire offseason that saw LSU head coach Brian Kelly fired, offensive coordinator Joe Sloan dismissed and athletics director Scott Woodward walking away, the Tigers (5-3, 2-3 SEC) return to action against rival No. 4 Alabama (8-1, 5-0) on the road inside Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night, Nov. 8.

LSU running backs coach Frank Wilson will serve as LSU’s interim head coach for the remainder of the season and the offensive staff has seen some shakeups highlighted by tight ends coach Alex Atkins now calling plays.

What will be different for LSU on offense? Wilson has hinted to backup quarterback Michael Van Buren getting in the game in certain, designed situations and the expectation is that LSU will run the football more.

LSU’s once vaunted defense, but a unit that has given up some points and yardage to both Vanderbilt and Texas A&M, will have to contend with Heisman Trophy hopeful Ty Simspon at quarterback for the Crimson Tide. Germie Bernard and Ryan Williams is the second straight receiver duo the Tigers have faced that both have the ability to take the top off the defense.
