Another day passes, and another name is added to the Philadelphia Eagles‘ offensive coordinator search. This, after two more names are scratched. The Buffalo Bills have promoted Joe Brady to fill their head-coaching vacancy. In a subsequent move, after seeing his hopes dashed, Brian Daboll accepted the Tennessee Titans’ offensive coordinator position.

Tears won’t be shed in the City of Brotherly Love. As days passed, no one saw either as a realistic candidate, so the conversation shifted again. Packers QB coach Sean Mannion is the latest name for consideration. It has been reported that he will interview for the Eagles’ offensive coordinator vacancy. One thing is certain. He has hands-on experience in playing the quarterback position.

Sean Mannion has his fingerprints all over the Pac-12 and Oregon State record books.

The college football landscape has changed. The ACC is home to two West Coast teams and one in Dallas. The Big Ten is home to 18 teams, while the Big 12 is home to 16.

There are just two teams left in the Pac-12 — Washington State and Oregon State. Mannion played his college ball for the Beavers, and when he left, he ranked among some of the best gunslingers the conference has ever seen.

If you’re a fan of Trivial Pursuit or sports trivia in general, you can certainly add a few questions involving Sean Mannion. He owns 18 program passing records.

On September 21, 2013, he tied Derek Anderson for a program record five touchdown passes. One game later, he set a new benchmark, throwing six TDs against the Colorado Buffaloes.

He finished the 2013 season having led the Beavers to a 7–6 record. In the final game, he threw for 259 yards to set a Pac-12 Conference-record 4,662 yards passing for the season. He finished the season with a school-record 37 passing touchdowns. His 83 TD tosses are the most over one Beaver’s career.

He owns 18 Oregon State records in total, including career passing yards (13,600). That also doubles as a Pac-12 record. The previous record-holder was former Eagles QB Matt Barkley.

Other records held by Mannion include career completion percentage (64.6%), single-game completions (41), and single-game passing yards (493). Sadly, most of that didn’t translate to his professional career, but he has found new life in coaching.

The résumé is loud. He has been a great mentor to Jordan Love on Matt LaFleur’s staff. Now comes the question. Do the Eagles believe his perspective and quarterback-minded approach can translate to a leadership role and a more impressive Eagles offense?
