The Cleveland Browns are making Todd Monken an NFL head coach for the first time.
He’s the latest former Georgia football assistant coach that worked under Kirby Smart to get a head coaching job after leaving the Bulldogs.
Monken previously was a head coach at Southern Miss and spent the past three seasons as offensive coordinator for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.
He came to Georgia in 2020 after coaching with the Buccaneers and Browns. Georgia won back-to-back national titles in 2021 and 2022 with Monken as offensive coordinator.
“Part of the reason I went to Georgia, one of the main reasons, was because of culture,” he said after being hired by the Ravens. “Head coach, winning, really good on defense. Obviously, trying to find a way to do it better on offense. I thought that was a parallel that I thought fit me.”
