Jah-Marien Latham to return to Alabama football for 2026 season

MOBILE — Jah-Marien Latham is back for Alabama football.

In his appearance ahead of a 2026 Senior Bowl practice, Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack confirmed to The Tuscaloosa News that Latham will be back in 2026 for his seventh season of eligibility.

“You feel the sense of urgency from Zeebo Latham,” Wommack told The Tuscaloosa News. “I don’t think people realize how important Jah-Marien was to us a year ago. He can play our Wolf. He can play our Bandit position. He can play 3-technique in a pinch. And when we lost him, we lost a lot of backup depth and versatility that we would have loved to have, you know what I mean, as we went into the rest of the season.”

Latham played in one game for the Crimson Tide in 2025, recording two tackles in Alabama’s season-opening loss to Florida State before leaving with a lower-body injury which kept him out against Louisiana-Monroe and Wisconsin.

Before Alabama’s SEC opener against Georgia, Latham suffered a neck injury during practice that kept him out for the rest of the season.

Latham was seen around the Alabama football program for the rest of the 2025 season.

“There’s so much respect for Jah-Marien,” DeBoer said in October. “You can see that, and how important it is to him for us to be successful. He’s out there cheering us on and helping other guys out: looking at the calls. He’s engaged, even understanding his circumstances.”

In six seasons, Latham has 44 tackles, four tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks along with a pass deflection and fumble recovery.

Alabama opens the 2026 season against East Carolina on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
