The path to the NFL draft begins when postseason all-star games start, marking the 90-day sprint toward the first round each year. The draft begins in Mobile with the Panini Senior Bowl, the first opportunity for scouts, coaches, executives, and all 32 teams to continue tracking future NFL stars.
The players began practice at Hancock Whitney Stadium on the University of South Alabama campus in Mobile, Alabama, on Monday, giving scouts, media members, and draft fans their first chance to see more than 133 draft prospects. Key players are available in every draft round, making events such as the Senior Bowl essential for NFL teams.
With Saturday's game fast approaching, we're looking at five wide receiver prospects to watch.
WR Tyren Montgomery – John Carroll
A stud who made our initial list of players to watch, Montgomery attended Nicholls State before transferring to John Carroll and has dominated Senior Bowl practices. A highly explosive athlete, Montgomery set numerous school records, holds the titles of most receptions in a single season, most receiving touchdowns for a wide receiver in a single season, and most receiving yards in a single season for the Blue Streaks.
