Tennessee is recruiting toward its 2027 football signing class. Vols’ offensive line coach Glen Elarbee visited four-star offensive tackle Layton Von Brandt.

“It was great having Glen Elarbee out to my house this morning to sit and talk ball, and meet my family” Von Brandt said. “I can’t wait to be in Knoxville this spring and see everyone!”

The 6-foot-6, 270-pound prospect is from Appoquinimink High School in Middletown, Delaware. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 5 offensive tackle in the class and No. 1 player in Delaware.

Tennessee offered Von Brandt a scholarship on Feb. 21, 2025 and has not visited the Vols.

The 2027 prospect committed to Penn State on Nov. 9, 2024. He decommitted from the Nittany Lions on Oct. 12, 2025 when Penn State parted ways with former head coach James Franklin.

Syracuse was the first school to offer Von Brandt a scholarship. Other schools to offer him scholarships include Charlotte, Rutgers, West Virginia, Boston College, Indiana, Akron, Delaware, Georgia, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Missouri, North Carolina, Auburn, Ohio State, Florida State, Florida, Stanford and Notre Dame.

Tennessee has four commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class: linebacker JP Peace, cornerback Kamauri Whitfield, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo and defensive lineman Kadin Fife.
