Jupiter elevates Josh Brooks to head coach of football program

Fresh off an undefeated regular season, Jupiter football has selected its next head coach.

Jupiter High elevated defensive coordinator Josh Brooks to head coach on Friday afternoon. The school announced he would replace Jason Kradman, who departed for a college coordinator job, in a social media post.

Frequently praised by Kradman for his game-planning and preparation, Brooks' rise to head coach won't come as a surprise to many in the Jupiter community.

He was a defensive back for the Warriors and graduated in the Class of 2013, earning honorable mention All-County honors from The Palm Beach Post his senior year. He played NCAA Division III football at Bridgewater College in Virginia.

"Josh has been a Warrior his entire life and is ready to take the helm and lead the Warrior football program," the school's official announcement stated.

"I’m honored and grateful to be the next head coach at Jupiter High School," Brooks said in a statement to The Post. I want to thank our principal, Amber Saunders, our athletic director, Scott Selvidge, the rest of our great administration, the coaching staff both past and present, as well as my wife and family for helping me get to this point."

"As a Jupiter High School alumni I take great pride in pouring everything I have into helping develop our student athletes both on and off the field," Brooks continued. "I look forward to being a leader of the young men who will represent what it means to be a Jupiter Warrior."

There had been speculation that Jupiter's next coach would be an in-house candidate after Kradman suggested as much in his interview with The Post upon accepting a college offensive coordinator role in Wisconsin.

That, of course, matches with Jupiter's unique tendency to find success with area student-athletes, as the team's coaches and staff have always been primarily homegrown in the modern transfer portal era.

Brooks, who is originally from Jupiter and who led the county in interceptions during his senior season, attended Bridgewater College, where he played defensive back.

Jupiter football finished the 2024-2025 season with a 10-1 record after putting together the first undefeated 10-win regular season in school history.
