The Gophers football program is expected to hire Kansas State’s linebacker coach Steve Stanard as the U’s next rush ends coach, a source confirmed to Pioneer Press on Wednesday.
Stanard replaces Bobby April III, who was hired after the Gophers’ overtime win in the Rate Bowl but soon left to join the Buffalo Bills’ new coaching staff. April was stepping in for CJ Robbins, who was promoted to Minnesota’s defensive line coach.
Stanard has been with K-State for six seasons and was Syracuse defensive ends coach before that. The Lincoln, Neb., native played at Nebraska and has 38 years of coaching experience.
