There are five teams still deep in the mix for the American Conference championship, with Memphis lurking just on the outside if everything else goes haywire.

East Carolina, Navy, North Texas, Tulane, and South Florida all still have dreams of winning the conference title, which, realistically, means a spot in the College Football Playoff.

What will happen for every team in every remaining game? Who will win the championship, and what are the three biggest games that will determine it all?

South Florida over Tulane
Okay, here’s how this shakes out.

USF gets the win it has to have over Navy – knocking out the Midshipmen – and then rolls past UAB and Rice to finish the American season 7-1. Memphis has lost twice, making that win over the Bulls immaterial, making Tulane’s win over the Tigers a huge deal.

The Green Wave got tripped up by UTSA, but the win over Memphis made up for that. They’ll have no problem with Florida Atlantic, Temple, or Charlotte to close to finish 7-1.

North Texas will also finish 7-1 – losing to USF – but Tulane will likely be ranked higher by the CFP.

East Carolina is a wild card, but it’ll lose to Memphis and/or at UTSA.

South Florida goes on to get the 12 seed in the College Football Playoff, unless it doesn’t get by …

2. Navy at Memphis, Nov. 28
If USF beats Navy, this isn’t a big deal. If Navy beats the Bulls, then it has to win this over Memphis, or else North Texas will likely slide on in.

3. Memphis at East Carolina, Nov. 15
The Tigers can take care of a huge piece of the puzzle, or the Pirates will make the trip to UTSA the following week one of the biggest games of the year.
