The LSU Tigers opened the Lane Kiffin era with a statement, crushing the Clemson Tigers 51-10 on Saturday night in Louisiana.
The win came amid all the ruckus around Kiffin and LSU’s legal fight with the SEC over their use of former NFL players. Despite not using Dae’Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, LSU dominated, and Kiffin took a playful shot at the situation, a moment that quickly caught the attention of college football fans.
Lane Kiffin’s Remarks Vs. Clemson Do Not Go Down Well
Early in the game, Clemson grabbed a 3-0 lead after LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt threw an interception on the second play. From there, though, Kiffin’s squad flipped the game completely and scored 31 unanswered points.
By halftime, LSU had built a 31-3 advantage, giving Kiffin the perfect setup for a cheeky response.
“Imagine if we had pro players,” Kiffin said at halftime.
Soon after, fans on social media picked up on Kiffin’s jab and quickly turned it into another debate about his personality.
One fan called out the coach’s approach directly, writing, “He’s a D1 troll lol 😂,” while another said, “Lane loves being the villain.”
A third fan took the joke even further, adding, “Lane was born to be a villain.”

Meanwhile, the legal fight could still shape LSU’s season beyond the Clemson blowout.
The SEC filed a federal lawsuit Thursday to block LSU from using former NFL players. But a Louisiana judge granted a preliminary injunction hours later, opening a path for Wright and Harris to return to college football.
However, the SEC rejected the ruling and vowed to continue defending its authority over conference rules. The conference also filed a federal lawsuit in Alabama, naming LSU, Lane Kiffin, university president Wade Rousse, and athletic director Verge Ausberry as defendants.
Since then, Kiffin has challenged the SEC’s position. He argues that courts have given athletes another year of eligibility, and conferences cannot simply ignore those orders. Now, his latest joke has given fans yet another reason to take aim.
“Bro is a master ragebaiter,” a fan wrote.

Another fan took a shot at Kiffin’s personality, saying, “Lane is not beating the diva allegations. LSU sorority houses should be put on notice for tonight.”
Still, not everyone enjoyed the coach’s latest jab, as some fans criticized his approach.
“He’s walking around like he won multiple Nattys as a HC,” a fan wrote.
Another fan focused on Kiffin’s choice of words, adding, “So he called them pro players, such honesty.”
At the end of the night, though, LSU delivered where it mattered most, giving fans plenty to celebrate on the field too.
