Oregon OT commit Avery Michael takes visit to Nebraska

After a couple of recent misses, the Oregon Ducks are doing whatever they can to keep their current 2027 recruiting class intact. Four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder flipped to USC over the weekend, and with just one other tackle currently committed to the Ducks, it’s become important to keep the commitment locked in.

Unfortunately, three-star Oregon offensive tackle commit Avery Michael is still weighing his options ahead of his senior season. Michael visited Nebraska over the weekend after Fielder’s flip to USC became official. Michael was publicly campaigning for Fielder to stick with the Ducks before his flip, and now Michael is worth watching on the recruiting front.

Fielder and Michael both committed to Oregon on February 1 and seemed to be a duo coming to Eugene. The 6-foot-5 tackle from Turlock, California, is the No. 32-ranked offensive tackle in the country, according to Rivals. He initially chose the Ducks over fellow Big Ten rivals Michigan and USC. Cal, now coached by former Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi, was also in the mix.

The Ducks appear to be in good standing with Michael, even after a positive visit to Nebraska. The Ducks will hope to keep him as part of their 2027 class, which now ranks 13th nationally after Fielder’s flip, according to Rivals. LSU is also expected to push for Michael after extending a recent offer.
