Michigan State football is one of seven schools still in the running for an edge rusher from Ohio.
Munir Lewis of Cleveland, Ohio revealed his top seven schools on Tuesday, which included the Spartans. According to a social media post from Lewis, Michigan State was joined by Ohio State, Louisville, Illinois, Purdue, Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt.
Lewis is listed as a high-end three-star prospect, with a recruiting rating of 88 in 247Sports' system. He ranks as the No. 46 edge rusher and No. 20 player from Ohio in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2027 class. He is also listed as the No. 531 overall prospect in the class.
Lewis holds offers from more than 20 schools, including Michigan State — who offered him in late January. According to 247Sports, he also holds notable offers from Louisville, Boston College, Cincinnati, Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio State, Purdue, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.
Michigan State and Louisville are the only two known schools to have official visits lined up with Lewis, according to 247Sports. He did, however, pick up an offer from Ohio State just earlier this month, though, which could result in his recruitment taking a turn towards the Buckeyes. At least for now, though, Michigan State appears to be near the top of his list.
