Jeremy Reed has been hired as Jones’ football coach and athletic director, the school announced Tuesday night.

Reed was named Muskogee’s offensive coordinator in January after spending the last three seasons as Altus’ head coach.

Kevin Witt was approved as Minco’s coach last week after leading Jones to the Class 2A-I state title this past season, and now, Reed is on the move again.

He’ll take over a Jones program that is moving up to Class 3A

“With a proven track record of success and a dedicated work ethic, Coach Reed is ready to lead our athletes to new heights,” the school said in a statement. “His commitment to integrity, leadership, and creating a positive, winning environment will inspire our students to excel in all areas of their lives.”

Jones has history with great quarterbacks, and the Longhorns will get another one with the addition of Reed.

His son, Jeymon Reed, is one of the best players in the 2029 class.

The young quarterback, who already holds Division-I offers, is coming off a stellar freshman season at Altus in which he completed 62.2% of his passes for 2,984 yards and 34 scores. The 6-foot-4, 185-pounder also rushed for 750 yards and 15 touchdowns on 94 carries.

That came in the last season of his dad’s second stint at Altus as Jeremy Reed also led the Bulldogs from 2014-15 and won the Class 5A state title in 2015

Between those two stops in Altus, Jeremy Reed led Lake Hamilton (Arkansas) in 2016 and Yukon from 2017-20 before taking an assistant position at Bethel College in Kansas.
