Football season ends in sectional championship games

The high school football season for area teams came to an end Friday in the sectional championship round.
Lawrenceburg 41, Greensburg 3
Host Greensburg took a 3-0 lead on a 22-yard Ethan Smith field goal, but the No. 5 Tigers of Lawrenceburg scored 41 unanswered points en route to a 41-3 victory to claim the sectional championship.
Lawrenceburg’s defense held the Pirates to 25 yards passing and 138 yards rushing in the game.
Carson Kilgore led the Pirates on the ground with 54 yards rushing and added 17 yards receiving. Levi Muckerheide added 52 yards rushing and 25 yards passing. Smith had one carry for 20 yards. Austin Cruz and Jai Jackson both rushed for six yards.
Jackson led the Pirates’ defense with eight total tackles. Eli Powers and Kameron Parkison both had seven total tackles. Jeremiah Alexander and Kilgore both had six total tackles. Myles McKinsey added five total tackles.
No. 5 Lawrenceburg (10-1) hosts No. 2 Cascade (12-0) for the regional title.
Milan 27, North 7
Host Milan jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the sectional title game against No. 7 North Decatur. After the Chargers cut the deficit in half at 14-7, the Indians scored 13 unanswered points to lock down the sectional championship 27-7.
For North, Corbin Thackery rushed for 105 yards and the lone Charger touchdown. Simon Barber rushed for 60 yards. Matthew Fields had 26 yards passing and 33 yards rushing. Hunter Meister had one reception for 18 yards.
Charlie Parmer led the Chargers’ defense with eight total tackles, including one tackle for loss. Barber added seven total tackles with one tackle for loss. Thackery and Logen Foster both had six total tackles.
North ends the season 8-3. Milan (6-4) travels to No. 2 Providence (9-2) for the regional championship.
