Clemson’s recruiting efforts continue this weekend as the Tigers prepare to host a group of priority prospects for their Spring Elite Day, including 2028 linebacker Jay Schell.

Schell, a 6-foot-3, 214-pound prospect out of Rabun Gap, Georgia, announced he's coming back to Clemson for yet another visit. This weekend gives both parties another chance to keep stoking a flame built through multiple visits.

Even though its still early in the 2028 cycle, Schell is already being recognized as a promising defensive player. Qualities that he is known for are his size and versatility at the linebacker position. Clemson's staff has focused on bringing younger prospects like Schell to campus so they can see how the program works, what the facilities are like, and who the coaches are.

The Spring Elite Day event, usually targeted at underclassmen that Clemson is closely monitoring, allows the coaching staff to assess prospects in person and build relationships that may be beneficial in the future.

Several Power Four programs have already shown interest in Schell. He has received numerous early offers and continues to see growth in his recruitment as the days go on. His return visit to Clemson indicates that both parties are interested in keeping one of the most intriguing young linebackers in the Southeast on the team.

Weekends like this lay the groundwork for upcoming classes, as recruiting battles frequently begin earlier than ever. Clemson is once again ensuring that it stays active in identifying and cultivating relationships with the next wave of talent.
