Argyle High School product Julian Caldwell has flip-flopped between cutting down his list of final schools between three and five in the last four months, but one thing has remained the same: the Oregon Ducks have always been on that list.

The consensus four-star wide receiver has now officially set a commitment date, as he'll make his announcement on May 9, per Rivals' Sam Spiegelman. Along with the Ducks, the Texas Longhorns and Texas Tech Red Raiders are the other listed finalists. The SMU Mustangs and Notre Dame Fighting Irish were previously on the list but have now been nudged out.

Caldwell is the No. 15 wide receiver and No. 89 player nationally, per 247 Sports Composite. He's the No. 11 player in the state of Texas, with the pair of in-state programs pursuing him hard. The 6-foot, 185-pounder has visits scheduled to all three of his finalists, first heading to Texas Tech (June 5), then Texas (June 12) and finally Oregon (June 19).

Caldwell exploded in his junior season at Argyle High School, totaling 94 catches for 1,737 yards and 20 touchdowns. He cemented himself as arguably the top wide receiver in Texas.

He spoke to Rivals as part of his commitment announcement, lauding the Texas-to-Oregon wide receiver pipeline.

"The thing about Oregon is they got a lot of Texas guys and they kind of started a trend there the Texas receivers," Caldwell said. "So that’s definitely good to know and I think they’ll have a lot of NFL draft picks in the future. The thing about Oregon is that they probably recruit me hardest right now and they definitely make me feel wanted. So going down there is definitely a lot of fun and did a lot of great things, but just really looking into the football aspect. I think I have a great opportunity to be developed by Coach (Ross) Douglas. They definitely work hard there."

Currently, the Ducks have a very strong group of defensive commits in the 2027 class but have just two commits on the offensive side of the ball in four-star running back Cadarius McMiller and three-star offensive tackle Avery Michael. The class ranks No. 11 in the country — though that could soon receive a significant boost if they can land the commitment of Caldwell, a blue-chip pass-catcher.
