Quarterback Donald Tabron II, out of Detroit, Michigan, is continuing to pick up steam in his recruiting process. As part of the 2028 cycle, Rivals Industry Rankings list him as a four-star recruit, the No. 4 quarterback and the No. 41 player in the nation.
On Wednesday, the signal caller announced he’s received a scholarship offer from the Ohio State Buckeyes. This comes after an impressive sophomore season at Cass Tech High School, throwing for 2,819 yards and 35 touchdowns, according to one of his own X posts.
Ohio State joins a high-powered list of teams showing interest. So far, Tabron has offers from the Michigan Wolverines, Oregon Ducks, Michigan State Spartans, Auburn Tigers and Penn State Nittany Lions.
However, this latest offer has caught the quarterback’s attention. In an article from Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong, Tabron gave a glowing review of the Buckeyes, just one day after announcing the offer.
“What stands out about Ohio State is the level of competition and development. They have a proven track record of getting guys to the next level at all positions and succeeding as well. The energy around the program is different. It’s a place where you’re pushed every day, and that opportunity really excites me.”
Ryan Day and his staff are off to a strong start in the 2028 recruiting class. They’ve already received commitments from four-star defensive lineman Jameer Whyce and four-star running back Elijah Newman-Hall.
However, to land Tabron, they have some work to do. The Rivals recruiting prediction machine gives Michigan the best chance (46.6%) to land the signal caller, with Ohio State in fifth (6.1%).
As his recruitment heats up, Ohio State will look to build momentum in hopes of positioning itself as a frontrunner.
