Florida State will have a new quarterback for the 2026 campaign. Mike Norvell named Ashton Daniels as the new quarterback, as he won the job in spring practice.
Now, Norvell may have the quarterback of the future, landing a recruit for the class of 2027, according to Hayes Fawcett on Rivals.
“Class of 2027 QB Logan Flaherty has Committed to Florida State, he tells me for Rivals. The 6’2 200 QB chose the Seminoles over Rutgers and Georgia Tech,” Fawcett posted on X, formerly Twitter.
Flaherty is the seventh recruit of the 2027 cycle, and completed over 60 percent of his passes for 2,636 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2026. Flaherty spoke of his relationships with the coaches, including quarterback coach Austin Tucker, per Steve Wiltfong.
“My relationship with Coach Tucker is extremely good and has gotten better since January when he got promoted,” Flaherty said. “Coach Norvell is a great coach and has been recruiting me since my sophomore year and FSU has the facilities capability of being and competing with top teams in the country.”
With the commitment, Florida State has the 32nd-ranked class in the nation and the seventh-best class in the ACC. Flaherty is the only quarterback in the class so far.
“Another big factor is it being my dream school and one of my first offers,” Flaherty emphasized. “Like I said earlier Norvell has been recruiting me since I was a sophomore which means a lot as well as both of my parents going to FSU and growing up watching FSU football makes this a dream come true and makes them a really special place to me.”
Flaherty could have a chance to compete for the job in 2027 as Daniels is in his final year of eligibility.
