Who are the underrated 2027 Notre Dame recruiting targets that people need to talk about more? There are three who stand out most.

Notre Dame football has been riding a wave of positive momentum for the 2027 recruiting class over the last several weeks. There is no reason to believe that head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish won’t end on a strong note this Summer. While we know some of the priority targets on the board, there are several key recruits that we need to talk more about as a collective.

Here are three 2027 targets for which there has been some positive news in recent days. Where do things stand, and how big of targets are each of them? The short answer is substantial, at least to some varying degrees.

As the team looks to solidify another elite recruiting class, these players could be the difference in filling each need and creating a deeper and more complete group. Get familiar with each moving forward, because they all will demand a lot more conversation moving forward.

CB Monsanna Torbert Jr. – Princeton (Ohio) High School

Tobert is a player who might be familiar to some Notre Dame fans who follow recruiting closely. Torbert, who was previously committed to Indiana, did visit South Bend earlier this offseason. He will also be heading back for an official visit on June 19-21. While he is a smaller cornerback at 5-10 and 158 pounds, Torbert’s cover skills are tremendous. He would be an easy fit inside at nickel with his combination of fluidity and explosiveness, and is clearly a player that Notre Dame wants in this class as they battle Ohio State and Michigan down the stretch.

LB Toa Satele – Mililani (Hawaii) High School

This is a recruitment that took me very off guard. I knew he held an offer from Notre Dame, but since he had never visited South Bend, it felt unlikely that he was overly interested, especially since he’s also a highly rated player. Then, all of a sudden, Satele dropped a top four schools list that included Notre Dame, Texas, Oregon, and Cal. The 6-3, 200-pound defender also solidified an official visit to South Bend for June 9-11. Anytime the Irish staff can get a talented player to campus for an official visit, they have a chance.

DB Karnell “Greedy” James – Manvel (Texas) High School

James has been committed to the Texas Longhorns since last December, but that hasn’t stopped Notre Dame from pursuing the talented defensive back. The Fighting Irish are continuing to push hard for James, as are LSU and Ohio State. As of today, I think Notre Dame has a very real chance if James does opt to leave the Texas class. He has already visited South Bend, so getting him back for an official visit will be important.
