Grandville hosted a scrimmage that included River Rouge, Traverse City West, St. Joseph and Greenville on Thursday night. It was a good event that was competitive. There were a handful of FBS recruits on the field, one sure-fire high-major guy, and lots of other players who will play college ball at the sub-FBS levels.
– The top prospect there was TC West junior quarterback Brayden Tillman. Tillman is very smooth and looks to be very in control of the offense. Last season was his first as starter and he now ha an additional year of comfort. He looked relaxed and trusted his reads. He’s athletic, throws well on the move, and showed he could layer the ball and make a variety of throws. Michigan State, Wisconsin, Purdue and Florida State have offered but other schools are evaluating him.
– One of his favorite targets is tight end Aidan Jacobs, a Kent State commit. He’s a steal for the Flashes. 6-foot-4, a very good athlete and he catches the ball very naturally. He’s athletic enough to line up as a field side cornerback on defense sometimes and be effective there. It would not be a huge surprise to see P4 schools keep tabs on him this season.
– The Titans have a good team coming back. Henry Olson is the backup quarterback but can run with it in some packages and has college offers as an athlete. Lineman Kaiden Conley has Division III offers as well. Sawyer Kirschner is a junior skill guy who is a three-sport athlete. Luka Dumon is another ’28 who made plays on both sides of the ball. Ethan Hendrix is a ’28 receiver who flashed and caught a touchdown from Tillman. Brandon Dean is a senior lineman who was a key player for the Titans last season.
– Grandville, the host school, is young but the Bulldogs are very well coached and they ran their offense very efficiently throughout the event. We didn’t get to see a ton of senior running back Darrione Hardiman but sophomore back Jordan Terry is on our radar. His two older brothers were good players who both signed to play college football (Davenport and Ferris State).
– St. Joseph was also tough. The Bears are lead by quarterback Caden LeClear, who is mobile, threw some really good balls, and has an offer from Adrian. Grand Valley State commit Nate Schmitt is a team leader at linebacker and tight end. He’s projected as a tight end for the Lakers. Senior offensive lineman Collin Sahs has an offer from Hope. 2028 running back Gabe King is a junior who made some plays. 2028 running back Ishmael Dixon is a tough runner.
– River Rouge is young but very talented. Jeremiah Cross has a good list of offers. He’s looks like a NICKEL to us but can project in a variety of ways. Freshman quarterback Da’Shawn Walker is a playmaker who is learning but has talent. Senior receiver Ahmir Fullilove caught our attention. He does not have any offers yet but is poised to earn some with a big season. 2029 offensive tackle Jeremiah Pounds has a big (6-5, 265 pounds) frame and a chance to be heavily recruited. Tyler Flowers is a 6-foot-5, 315-pound two-way guy who the staff thinks could be a college defensive tackle.
