Arch Manning has never played in Sanford Stadium, but he experienced a game there with his father as a coveted recruit in September of 2021 when Georgia football pounded South Carolina 40-13.

“I was considering them until the end,” he said this week.

Texas won out for the five-star quarterback with the famous last name.

He leads a No. 10 Longhorns team into a prime-time game in Athens against the No. 5 Bulldogs on Saturday, Nov. 15.

“It’s a big time atmosphere,” he said. “I’m excited.”

Georgia redshirt junior Gunner Stockton has outperformed Manning this season, but Manning has thrown for 346 and 328 and yards the last two games.

“His recruitment was based on he’s athletic, he’s fast, he’s tall, he’s intelligent, he’s got composure, he’s got an arm,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. “He can do it all. He can run the ball, he can throw the ball. In this day and age, you got to have a quarterback that can do both and he can.”

  • Georgia 27, Texas 24: Texas can’t bank on beating Texas A&M to get into the College Football Playoff, so it might be tight in this road game at night. Nothing has come easy in opponents’ stadiums for the Longhorns, who are 2-2 on the road. This will come down to the fourth quarter where Georgia has shown against everyone except Alabama it can close out games.
  • Spread: Georgia -6
  • Over/under: 48.5
