Kent State vs. Notre Dame is set for the 2027 college football season

KENT — You can add one more historic venue the Kent State football team will visit in the coming seasons.

Kent State is set to play Notre Dame on Oct. 2, 2027 in South Bend. It will be the first meeting between the Golden Flashes and Fighting Irish.

Kent State quarterback Dru DeShields scrambles during the season opener against Merrimack, Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025.

Head coach Mark Carney’s team already has games scheduled at South Carolina and Ohio State this year. The Flashes will kick off the 2026 season at South Carolina on Sept. 5 and face the Buckeyes in Columbus on Oct. 19.

Notre Dame is 11-1 all-time against Mid-American Conference opponents. The only loss was to Northern Illinois in 2024. The Irish also had a narrow escape against Toledo in 2021.
