People were chatting about Clemson‘s football defensive recruiting cycle being a failure and the team not having a direct path going into the next 3 years. It’s safe to say that with the newest additions, the chatter has been put to rest.
Boulware is ranked No. 9 nationally in 247Sports’ 2027 recruiter rankings, giving Clemson a top-10 recruiter in the current cycle. Among ACC recruiters, he is ranked No. 2, which is a pretty strong start for a coach who is still early in his tenure as Clemson’s linebackers coach.
His 247Sports profile currently credits him with three commitments in the 2027 class, with an average recruit rating of 91.35 and 54.27 recruiter points. The group includes four-star linebacker Bryce Kish, four-star safety Jarrell Chandler, and three-star linebacker Brayden Reilly. Max Brown is also listed on his all-time commits page, giving Boulware a quickly growing recruiting footprint since returning to Clemson.
The Chandler recruitment is probably the one that jumps out the most right now. Clemson just landed the Tennessee safety, who is listed as a four-star prospect with a 0.9144 rating, and Boulware was attached to that recruitment along with Tom Allen.
For Clemson, this matters because the Tigers need new energy on the trail. Recruiting has been under a microscope lately, especially with Clemson missing on a ton of targets on the O-Line, but Boulware becoming a top 10 recruiter nationally gives the staff a clear win on the defensive side. It also fits what Clemson wants to sell. Boulware lived the standard as a player, won at the highest level and now gets to walk into recruitments with the credibility of someone who actually did it in orange.
His recruiting prowess doesn’t even mention the fact that he is in the process of building an elite defensive player in the nation. Sammy Brown’s development has been on the up ever since Boulware took the helm as the main coach for his position.

The rankings can change as the cycle moves, but this is a blaring indicator that Boulware is not just back at Clemson for nostalgia. He is already becoming one of the staff’s most effective assets.
