Edge rusher Takeshi Savery from West High School in Utah is ranked as the No. 45 edge in the 2028 class, per the 247Sports Composite. But with offers from Miami, Oregon, Penn State, UCLA, and Utah already on the board and interest from USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Michigan pouring in lately, it looks like he could be a huge riser as the year goes on.
Washington made that bet on May 6, extending an offer to Savery to join the fray for Utah’s No. 9-ranked player.

As a sophomore, Savery had 68 tackles, 37 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, forced and recovered one fumble each, and blocked two punts. Already listed at 6-foot-2, 245 pounds, Savery has played all over the formation in high school but will likely settle in as a true edge rusher in college. He has already taken unofficial visits to Oregon, Utah, Arizona, and Arizona State.
Utah and Oregon are believed to be top suitors for Savery early on, but the sophomore has about a year before he can even start taking official visits, so plenty could change between now and then. Defensive line coach Jason Kaufusi has strong ties to Utah, and Washington also offered Savery’s high school teammate, offensive lineman Samiu Taukiuvea.
Pair that with the way head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff have proven they can recruit through two-plus seasons at the helm, and Savery feels like a prospect that could be well within their reach even if he breaks out the way his offer and interest lists seem to predict he will.
Savery could also have a path to playing early at Washington, depending on how things shake out. A senior Devin Hyde and junior Ramzak Fruean would likely be the leaders of the Huskies‘ room on the edge in 2028, with fourth-year junior Victor Sanchez Hernandez and junior JD Hill (if he stays on the outside) potentially in the mix as well. 2027 commit Matamatagi Uiagalelei will also join that group next year.
