Nebraska’s Jamal Rule named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

Nebraska running back Jamal Rule was recognized by the Big Ten on Monday for his Week 1 efforts. Rule was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

The Salisbury, North Carolina, native delivered a strong collegiate debut in the Huskers’ 49-21 win over Ohio. The true freshman finished the game with 169 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns, playing a key part in Nebraska’s victory.

He rushed for 122 yards on the day, over 100 in the second half alone, and two touchdowns on 15 carries. In the air, Rule hauled in two passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. He had a long of 39 yards on the ground and 24 in the air, which he took for a touchdown.

Rule was one of three running backs to earn a touch in Nebraska’s win. He, Mekhi Nelson and Isaiah Mozee combined for over 200 rushing yards on Saturday.
