‘Come Play With the Best’ — Texas’ 5-Star Commit Easton Royal Recruits No. 3 RB in 2027 Class to Longhorns

Five-star wide receiver Easton Royal is the highest-rated commit in Texas’ 2027 recruiting class. This Longhorns class already has a running back commit in four-star prospect Noah Roberts, but Royal is recruiting another blue-chip RB to be his future teammate as well.

Easton Royal Trying to Help Texas Secure a Blue-Chip RB Target

Four-star running back Landen Williams-Callis revealed his top 10 schools on Saturday, and Texas earned a spot alongside Oregon, LSU, Texas A&M, Florida State, Missouri, SMU, Florida, Indiana, and Houston.

Royal quickly jumped in to recruit Williams-Callis to Texas’ 2027 class with a strong message.

“Wya @CallisLanden come play with the best brudda🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾,” Royal tweeted.

Williams-Callis is the No. 3 running back in the 2027 class, the No. 8 recruit in Texas, and the No. 42 prospect in the nation, according to Rivals. He is preparing for his senior season in 2026, but he has already totaled 7,554 rushing yards and 133 touchdowns over three high school seasons. He recorded more than 3,500 rushing yards and 60 total touchdowns in his junior year alone.

Securing an elite and promising player like Williams-Callis would be a big boost to Texas’ offense, which finished last season with a 79.9 score in the PFSN CFB Offense Impact metric, ranking No. 38 in the nation.

Williams-Callis’ recruiting evaluation also proves the type of player he is.

“Landen Williams-Callis’ size, speed, and running style remind us of D’Andre Swift,” Rivals’ summary states. “Like Swift, Williams-Callis is a stocky, shorter back with the ability to read blocks and tempo his runs at a high level. Both have similar top-end gears with the ability to pull away from defenses once in the open field. Williams-Callis is a more productive runner at the same stage, with historic yards and touchdown totals in the state of Texas.”

Williams-Callis has made 16 recruiting visits throughout his recruitment, including four official visits to Missouri, Indiana, SMU, and LSU. As a Texas native, he remains one of the Longhorns’ biggest priorities. His primary recruiter from Steve Sarkisian’s staff is Jabbar Juluke, who became Texas associate head coach (offense) and running backs coach on Dec. 12, 2025.

Texas also has another advantage, since Williams-Callis has already taken three unofficial visits to Sarkisian’s program, more than any other school he has visited. However, the race will be tight with the Longhorns’ in-state rival, Texas A&M, which currently owns the best odds to land his commitment at 88.4%, according to Rivals. Texas holds the third-best odds at 1.4%, trailing only SMU’s 2.1%.

As of now, Texas has 11 commits in the 2027 class, and the majority of them are in-state prospects.
