Ohio State football has one QB committed for 2027 with Brady Edmunds, but it’s no secret they want to add a second. The Buckeyes are a school to watch over the next couple of months with a Big Ten opponent’s quarterback commitment.
We know the Ohio State Buckeyes want to bring in two quarterbacks in the class of 2027. They already have four-star QB Brady Edmunds committed, and the search is on for a second recruit to join him.
An interesting part of Ohio State’s future QB plans is that Edmunds may not end up in the class, so it could be an unforeseen duo the Buckeyes end up bringing in for 2027.
We know Ohio State has eyes on a major Big Ten commitment, and it’s something to monitor the next few months.
Nebraska’s elite QB commit is one to watch for Ohio State football
Ohio State took a trip a few weeks ago to see Millard South (NE) four-star QB Trae Taylor. The Buckeyes would like the blue-chip quarterback commit to take a visit to Columbus, but Taylor has pushed back against doing so to this point. Still, it’s a recruitment to watch this summer.
“We’ll have to monitor Ohio State’s push for Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor throughout the summer and through the fall,” Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong wrote on Monday. Working the storyline with Allen Trieu, we expect the communication to remain and seasons to be monitored.”
According to the 247 Sports Composite, Taylor is the No. 4 quarterback and No. 60 player overall in the class of 2027. Taylor has been committed to Nebraska since May of 2025, and Ohio State has just recently upped its interest in the 6-foot-3, 192-pound quarterback.
“At this point in the process Ohio State stands where the other schools stand,” Taylor said via On3 recently. “I’m committed to not taking any trips to campus. But I’m definitely not going to ignore any coach that calls me. The way football is now I refuse to burn any bridges.”
There’s a lot left to play out in Ohio State’s 2027 QB class. Taylor could be a player the Buckeyes turn up the heat on and get more aggressive in their recruitment. A situation to monitor with multiple moving pieces.
