Virginia Tech football: Hokies land commitment from 4-star TE Jordan Karhoff

On Memorial Day, the Virginia Tech Hokies landed a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Kaden Buchanan. One day, more good news for the Hokies, as Virginia Tech received a commitment from four-star tight end Jordan Karhoff.
Karhoff stands over 6-foot-4 and weighs 215 pounds, and plays high school football at St. Francis de Sales in Columbus, Ohio. He held at least 37 reported offers, with Virginia Tech ultimately edging out Miami and Texas A&M. And yes, Karhoff did have an offer from his hometown Ohio State Buckeyes, and he still picked the Hokies.
While head coach James Franklin was instrumental in Karhoff’s recruitment, offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Ty Howle helped put the Hokies over the top. Franklin and Howle had been recruiting Karhoff since they were at Penn State.
Karhoff is a unanimous four-star recruit, with all three major recruiting services (247Sports, On3/Rivals, ESPN) all ranking him as a four-star and a top-200 player nationally. 247Sports has Karhoff as the No. 12 tight end in the 2027 recruiting class and the No. 9 player in Ohio.
Karhoff plays both sides of the ball at St. Francis de Sales, and he caught 31 passes for five touchdowns last season, while contributing 56 tackles, including 17 for loss and 5.5 sacks. Make no mistake, his future in Blacksburg will be on offense.
Karhoff is a natural tight end. There is no projection needed. He has the perfect frame to add more weight, while retaining his speed. He also possesses outstanding length and is good after the catch. If you watch Karhoff, he’s a natural as a pass catcher, showing terrific hands.
There were other schools that thought they had a chance with Karhoff, but ultimately, his relationship with Howle and Franklin, along with his comfort level in Blacksburg, helped the Hokies pull off the win here.
After the addition of Karhoff, the Hokies have 15 commitments in the 2027 recruiting class. They moved up to No. 13 in the country in the 247Sports team rankings for 2027.
