Logan Davis, a 6’1”, 180-pound cornerback out of Ridge Point High School in Missouri City, Texas, announced his commitment to the 2027 Kansas State recruiting class this afternoon. Davis is a composite 3* recruit who has begun to move up the recruiting rankings. The Rivals recruiting site considers him a high 3*(88) prospect, the 80th best cornerback in the 2027 class, and the 75th best overall player in Texas.
Davis committed after visiting Manhattan this weekend. Kansas State secured his services over offers from UNLV, Texas State, Army, and North Texas, amongst others. He is the second member of the Ridge Point secondary to pledge their commitment to the Wildcats, joining safety Bryson Dossett.
Highlights
Thoughts
Davis checks all the physical boxes as a 6’1”, 180-pound corner with speed to burn. Evaluating corners off highlights isn’t worth much, because of course, they are going to play lockdown coverage in their highlight reel. What stood out in Davis’s tape is his tackling ability. Not only is he physical in coverage downfield, but he isn’t afraid to make his presence felt in run support.
If you can’t tackle, your stay in Jordan Peterson’s defense will be short and uneventful because you won’t see the field. Not only does Davis make open field tackles in his film, but he also gets off blocks and hunts down ball carriers in traffic. That’s the type of effort and attention to detail that gets this coaching staff’s attention.
