Oklahoma won the recruiting battle for three-star running back Jakoby Dixon, who on Sunday announced his commitment to the Sooners over Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M, and other major programs.

Dixon, a 5-foot-10, 200-pound running back from Brenham High School in Texas, is ranked as the No. 44 running back nationally in the 2027 class by Rivals. In the Rivals Industry Rankings, he is listed as the No. 556 overall prospect and No. 77 player in the state of Texas. According to 247Sports Composite, he is rated as the No. 704 overall player and the No. 51 running back in the country.

As a freshman in 2023, Dixon earned Texas District 10-5A-II Offensive MVP honors. As a sophomore in 2024, he was named Overall District MVP after rushing for 2,250 yards, adding 270 receiving yards, and scoring 35 touchdowns. He also recorded a seven-touchdown game against Killeen.

Before his junior year in 2025, Dixon transferred to The John Cooper School in the Houston area, where he amassed 22 carries for 140 yards and three touchdowns before returning to Brenham High School.

Oklahoma’s coaching staff, led by head coach Brent Venables, offered Dixon in mid-May and quickly made him a priority target. Sooners running backs coach Deland McCullough played a central role in the recruitment, including a visit to Dixon’s high school spring game on May 14 and continued in-person evaluation. Dixon also took an official visit to Oklahoma this past weekend after previously visiting Oregon on an unofficial trip.

Dixon’s commitment gives the Sooners their second running back pledge in the 2027 class, joining four-star Keldrid Ben from Montgomery, Texas. Dixon also became McCullough’s first running back commitment since joining Oklahoma’s staff after DeMarco Murray departed for the Kansas City Chiefs following the 2025 season.

With Dixon on board, the Sooners have further bolstered a talent-rich 2027 class that now features 22 commitments and ranks among the nation’s top groups.
