Rutgers Football Lands 2027 Florida ATH Zion Vilma

Rutgers football has landed a fifth commitment from their May 29th official visit weekend as 2027 Florida ATH Zion Vilma has decided to commit to the Scarlet Knights. His commitment makes it five commitments in two days for the Knights.

Vilma, who plays his high school ball for Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School down in Lake Worth, Florida, is ranked as a three-star recruit by both Rivals and 247sports.

Vilma stands at 5-foot-11, 170 pounds and plays both wide receiver and cornerback for his high school; however, he is projected to play cornerback for Rutgers.

On defense this past season, Vilma made 17 tackles while grabbing four interceptions. On offense, he made 47 receptions for 827 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Vilma received his offer back in February and has been high on Rutgers throughout his entire recruitment process. He ultimately chose to commit to Rutgers despite holding offers from Florida State, Georgia, Iowa State, Miami, Mississippi State, Syracuse, USF, and Wake Forest.

The Vilmas and Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano have a loose connection as Schiano helped recruit Jonathan Vilma, Zion’s cousin, to go to Miami before Schiano left to take the head coaching job at Rutgers.
