The Ohio State football team is in the middle of official summer visits, trying to lure in some of the biggest recruits in the country. While the coaching staff works on securing future Buckeyes, all eyes are on the start of a new college football season. And there is none bigger than an early-season road trip to Austin.
Texas and Ohio State squared off in Columbus to kick off last season, with the Bucks coming out on top 14-7. Longhorn pass rusher extroidinare, Colin Simmons, had some things to say leading up to last year's No. 1 vs. No. 2 battle. After Ryan Day named Julian Sayin the starting quarterback, Simmons went on record saying, "I'm just glad that they chose a quarterback that I'm ready to sack." However, he wasn't able to back up the talk, recording only two tackles on the day.
You might think Simmons would have learned his lesson, but you'd be wrong. When asked about yet another rematch with Ohio State, this time on the Longhorns' home turf, Simmons told Pete Nakos of On3, "We're coming. There's business to be taken care of."

There is no doubt that Colin Simmons is one of the best edge rushers in college football. In two years with Texas, the young man has racked up a total of 21 sacks and will most likely go in the first round of the 2027 NFL draft. He's a phenomenal player, even beating out Jeremiah Smith for Freshman of the Year in 2024. However, he's been mostly held in check in two games against the Scarlet and Gray. Maybe the home-field advantage will lend the momentum needed to get over the hump, but at this point, it feels like the better approach would be to keep those thoughts to yourself.
With just about three months before the Buckeyes and Longhorns do battle on the field, there will surely be more fuel thrown on this fire.
