Rutgers football has added its first commit of the June 6th recruiting weekend, as Georgia Safety Dextavion Reese has decided to commit to the Scarlet Knights.

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Reese plays his high school ball for Hephzibah High School down in Georgia. New Rutgers safeties coach Adam Cox led the way in his recruitment and was his primary contact throughout. He is the third safety to commit to Rutgers in the 2027 class.

Reese is currently rated as the No.87 safety recruit in the 2027 class. He chose Rutgers over schools such as Georgia Tech, South Florida, Connecticut, and Coastal Carolina. Nebraska was also trying to get him on campus for a visit before he committed, as he had an open offer from the Cornhuskers. Now that he has committed, all of his future official visits are expected to be canceled.

Reese is currently rated as a high three-star by 247sports. He is still unranked by ESPN and Rivals.
