Rutgers football has landed its first true defensive tackle commit of the 2027 recruiting class as South Carolina DT Dennis Glenn Jr. has decided to commit to the Scarlet Knights, according to an announcement he made on his social media accounts. The 6-foot-1, 285-pound prospect announced his decision at the end of an official campus visit this weekend and is the fourth player to commit in just the past two days.

Glenn plays his high school ball for Boiling Springs High School down in South Carolina. He is a multi-talented athlete, playing basketball and running track and field in addition to football.

Glenn’s commitment came together pretty quickly, with Rutgers not getting involved with him until May 21st, when they sent out their scholarship offer. Rutgers beat out several other Power Four programs to land his commitment, including Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia, NC State, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest were a few of the schools that had sent him offers. Glenn was originally planning to take official visits to Cincinnati and Virginia Tech over the next few weeks before he decided to commit to Rutgers.

Glenn is rated as a high three-star by both Rivals and 247sports, with the latter rating him an 89, just one away from four-star status. His 247sports composite rating stands at 0.8900, placing him No. 438 nationally among the class of 2027 and tying him as the highest rated commit of the class by 247sports for Rutgers with wide receiver Arnod Mugerwa, who committed last week.

He is the second player to commit to Rutgers from South Carolina this cycle, joining running back Trenton Lynch.
