Michigan Football stays put in AP Poll following win at Northwestern

Well…that was close.
The Michigan Wolverines barely snuck away from Wrigley Field with a win, overcoming five turnovers to defeat Northwestern, 24-22. The win kept Michigan’s College Football Playoff hopes alive, setting up the perfect storm yet again against No. 1 Ohio State in two weeks.
The AP voters were not impressed by Michigan’s walk-off victory and kept the Wolverines at No. 18 in this week’s Top-25 rankings.
As for the rest of the college football landscape, six teams from last week’s AP Top-25 lost: Alabama, Texas, Louisville, Cincinnati, Pitt and South Florida. As a result, a slew of teams were able to move up and position themselves well for the conclusion of the season, including Georgia and Oklahoma, Big-12 leader Texas Tech and Group of 5 contenders North Texas, Tulane and Navy, with the latter taking down South Florida.
Other winners of the weekend included USC, which beat Iowa to stay alive in the Big Ten and CFP hunt. Meanwhile, Texas A&M completed the largest comeback in program history to remain in the Top-5, and Notre Dame may have locked in a CFP spot with a 22-point win at Pitt.
With just two weeks left in the regular season, there is still not a clear picture of who will get into the CFP. Nonetheless, the AP Poll gave us some insight, and here is what the voters came up with heading into the second-last week of the season.
