As Longhorns football continues to build for the future, they have been focusing on the 2028 class. One player they have been targeting is Southlake native Ty McCurry. The three-star offensive tackle was in Austin last week for an official visit and left with a glowing review after touring the campus and working with the coaching staff.

Currently, the Southlake Carroll High star is ranked as the 39th best offensive tackle in his class by 247Sports. They also rank him as the 65th-best player from Texas. While McCurry has been busy touring the country and meeting with programs such as Ohio State, he did not take his visit to the Forty Acres for granted.

" It was great," McCurry said. " The coaching staff ran a really good camp. It was the first time I really got to work with them. Before that, I had only been on spring visits and junior visits. It was really good to see upfront how they approach coaching me, and I enjoyed my time working with them."

During the recruiting process, McCurry has been a popular target. He has received offers from Arizona State, Boston College, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, UCLA, and Clemson. That list should continue to grow the longer the talented offensive tackle stays on the market. For McCurry,, that focus will be on continuing to improve his unique skill set.

" I think my twitch is kind of uncommon for my size," McCurry said. " When a coach is looking to offer an offensive tackle, they wanna see that you are big and can create space and widen in the pocket. I think I can hang with some of the top edge rushers in the pocket. At Southlake, our football IQ is high since we run a pro-style offense, and I've been able to learn a lot from my coaches and players who have gone through the program."

While McCurry has many options on the table, he is in no rush to make a decision. He is looking for a place that he can call home for his college career and that will maximize his skills.

" The main thing I always say is that you have to live there for four years," McCurry said. " I'd like to stay at a school for four years and build a legacy there, so I'm looking for a school like that where I can see myself staying. The goal is ultimately to play at the next level, so finding a school that can help me develop and fulfill my dreams is my main thing."

Over the next few months, McCurry will be a player to watch as he weighs his options. Regardless of what happens, the Longhorns have made a good impression on a player with a bright future.
