Brian Kelly is used to being in the college football limelight, having coached at Notre Dame and LSU. He's done well in pressure-cooker settings but has agreed to take a less visible role in his next college football gig.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that Kelly is working with Memphis' football program as an unpaid consultant. He's on hand as a resource to first-year coach Charles Huff.

Huff has already seen the value of bouncing things off someone with Kelly's experience.

"Talking to him was really good, because there's a lot of humility in him," Huff said to the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "He's like, 'There were some things that I wish I did different.' At that level, you don't have a chance to go backwards. But that's given me an opportunity to kind of think about some things that we may run into that we haven't run into yet. So it's been really good."

Huff also noted that Memphis is looking to join a power conference in the not-so-distant future, and leveraging Kelly's experience in that realm will also be extremely helpful.
