Texas football is intensifying its efforts on the College Football Recruiting trail for June 2026. The Longhorns already grabbed past Ohio State wide receiver target Briceson Thrower to start the week of June 8. They then beat OSU Thursday for four-star defensive lineman Kasi Currie, but also edged out Georgia and Oregon.

The interior defensive tackle talent from Sierra Canyon High in Chatsworth, California announced his verbal commitment with family via 247Sports. Currie unzipped his windbreaker to reveal a Texas shirt. Then the 6-foot-4, 315-pound talent put on the Longhorns hat.

“Really, just when I got out there, my third time out there, really felt like home. They took care of my family. Just felt like home,” Currie told 247Sports national recruiting analyst Blair Angulo on why he chose Texas.

He adds to the Sierra Canyon representation in front of head coach Steve Sarkisian. “Coach Sark” managed to flip Currie’s former Trailblazer teammate Richard Wesley around this time in 2025. Wesley originally committed to Oregon before flipping.

“We got each other better,” Currie said in looking back at his time with the five-star edge rusher. “He’s already at college getting the next-level training, so I just can’t wait to get the next-level training, and we both just go crazy.”

Currie is one of Sierra Canyon’s top 2026 prospects. The private school continues to pump out high-caliber college football talent. The inside trench defender leads a unit that also features fellow prized incoming senior Marcus Fakatou, The edge rusher is a five-star talent for ’26 and happens to also be considering Texas along with Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, and Notre Dame per 247Sports.
