With several other top targets already committed, Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies coaching staff have placed a major emphasis on the recruitment of four-star cornerback Censere Gaylord.
The 6-foot, 160-pound product of California, who plays for the prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, and is ranked as the nation’s No. 113 overall prospect and No. 13 cornerback in the 2027 class by 247Sports, was on campus for an official visit over the June 5 weekend.
As the Huskies compete with Auburn, Georgia, and Georgia Tech for his services, Fisch has one of his best recruiters leading the charge in secondary coach John Richardson, who was able to make a major impression on the talented defensive back over the weekend.
“I’ve known JRich since eighth grade, and I know he can make me the best man I can be on and off the field,” Gaylord told Rivals’ Greg Biggins.

On the field, Gaylord looks like a perfect fit in defensive coordinator Ryan Walters’ scheme. Not only does he excel in press coverage and play with great instincts and ball skills, which all point to a future on the outside, but with his physicality and willingness to tackle and play the run, he could develop into a versatile piece at the college level, a lot like how the second-year defensive coordinator utilized now-Seattle Seahawks star Devon Witherspoon during his time at Illinois.
As the Huskies continue to push for Gaylord, as well as four-star Kamil Loud and three-star Evan Mack at cornerback, Richardson has already established a solid foundation in the 2027 class, as he holds commitments from four-star safety Isala Aisa Wily-Ava and three-star cornerback Maurice Williams.
