Coming off his official visit to Ann Arbor, it had appeared that Michigan football had surged into pole position for 2027 Rock Hill (S.C.) South Pointe four-star defensive lineman Seth Tillman. However, the optimism from his visit hasn’t just waned; it’s all but disappeared.

Georgia had long been the team to beat, but Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong was of the mind that the Wolverines had perhaps overcome the Bulldogs and other contenders after last weekend. It all ended up being short-lived, as Clemson started gaining some steam in advance of his official visit there this weekend. Now, it appears that Michigan is out entirely, as Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett reports that Tillman has a final two of Georgia and Clemson with eyes on a July 3 commitment.

The maize and blue had pulled a rabbit out of the hat by getting 2027 Houston (Tx.) South four-star defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad in the fold in May. He remains the sole defensive tackle-type to be committed to the class. Tillman has since been the top target to join him, and the Wolverines will need to look elsewhere to find another player in the middle of the defensive front to join Muhammad.
