Boom! Ohio State just landed another prized recruit, coming from one of Ohio's powerhouse high school programs. Cornerback Deontay Malone committed to being a Buckeye on Sunday afternoon.

Malone is a four-star defensive back according to 247Sports composite rankings, ranking as the No. 33 prospect at the position. Ohio State was a tad late to the game, offering Malone a scholarship just this past January. The Massillon Tiger held offers from Michigan State, Auburn, Michigan, North Carolina, and more, but ultimately only took two official visits, one to Columbus and one to East Lansing. The lure of playing in his home state was just too much, spurning the Spartans for the Buckeyes.

It was another win for Ryan Day, keeping Ohio talent in Ohio. The Buckeyes are getting a very athletic young man. His Junior year at Massillon saw him record 25 tackles, three interceptions, seven pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble. On the offensive side, he hauled in 34 receptions for 498 yards. He would score nine total touchdowns for the Tigers.

Malone becomes the 14th player to commit to Ohio State and the first cornerback. The Buckeyes are still working hard to land two other corners in the class in Monsanna Torbert Jr and Jaden Carey. Torbert visited Columbus this past weekend with Malone. Carey visited earlier this month. Carey is scheduled to make his announcement on Wednesday and has been crystal-balled to the Buckeyes. More good news could be on the way.
